Halo to Wanderfreund Grafenwoehr. I was stationed in Vilseck twice. 1992-1995, and 1998-2000 when I retired. Went on many Volksmarches with Wanderfreund Grafenwoehr. Met and made lots of friends, and miss you all. Hope to come back some day.

I lived in Graf from 1984-1989 or so. I loved it. Metropol, Life, Dynasty; where have all the good times gone. Last time I went back was 1999 and so much has changed. The schnitzel stand is still there I must say. Alex Mattys; I wish you the best life.
I had a great friend named Don Conway (quick) He lived in an upstairs apt close to the main gate and Metropol. He was Army and worked at the dental office, I think he was a dental technician or something. He was also a great boxer. Anyways, great site and miss you Graf...

The Housing office on Base works not good a lot Husbands (on papier) live alone in a new big House the wife in the states. and the real Families with kids they dont get a flat but there @ Netzaberg and Erbendorf are still alot flats new&free. The Germans in the Housing office knows but dont care! They just smile about... We found a old flat 30miles away 4 weeks before our Baby was born. Thats not fair and realtor make big money around Base!

We were stationed in Grafenwohr from 1960 t0 1964 I was with the Post Engineers. We have many fond memories from those days , when we had some of the best years ever. When the Park Cafe was owned by Felix And Mickeys was more like a nightclub than a bar.If you know the woman who they called George at the Park Cafe and was a barrel of laughs you are definately getting old. There was a curfue in those days and everone had to be back on post by midnight and make bedcheck ,which cost many a man a stripe for missing it. During this Period the exchange rate was four marks to the dollar and went as high as 4 mark twenty. The NCO club was one of the best in Germany and was still run by the NCO board of governors, sadly, because of a crooked Sgt Major and a General, the Army took control of our clubs and created a club management sytem that took more away from us than the few bad apples did that caused it. I visited Grafenwohr a few years ago and the enlisted clubs were deplorable in comparison to the pre seventies.
I married my wife Maria there in Graf,we have spent 46 years together. We lived on Bohnhof Strasse in a little house behind Frau Schmidt, who has since passed away and her house and our little house were tore down and there was a lumber yard there when i last seen it.
There may be someone who still knows us there but it is doubtful as it was a long time ago.
To all in good old Grafenwohr and especially our troops, enjoy your time there and if it is near what it was, you will always remember your stay.
Bye and good Luck
John and Maria

OMG, I thought I had imagined a place called, Mickeys Bar. My parents are deceased so I don't remember much about it. Could I have gone in? Probably not! Lived there from '70-'72 and remember Grafenwohr Elem., the Colonel's fancy Gingerbread house, the theater and sledding down Bunker Hill...oh and Our Lady Of The Wilderness Church. Write me with your memories! Looking for old friends that might have had first communion with me in '72 (I have home movies of YOU!) and were you a Girl Scout with me? Our troop leader was Mrs. Wilson (my mom was assistant leader.) Nancy Wilson, Ximodia Brumley, Carrie Richardson, Laura Moyer, Linda Hoyle, Jamie Gannon...anyone?
